General employment matters
Data protection
The Data Protection Act is complicated. We can help you deal with the applicability of the Act and issues raised by employees under it, for example subject access requests.
Disciplinary issues, grievances and dismissals
Employers are legally obliged to have written procedures for dealing with disciplinary and grievance matters. The procedures should be set out in the employee's particulars of employment or the staff handbook. If you are contemplating taking disciplinary action against an employee or if an employee raises a grievance, you should ensure that you act in accordance with these procedures.
Our team has extensive experience on the drafting and implementation of disciplinary and grievance procedures. As part of our service, we provide bespoke training on the application of the ACAS Code of Practice on discipline and grievances, and can assist your operational managers or human resources team through these internal processes. Our assistance can be particularly useful where there are highly sensitive and potentially costly issues such as discrimination, bullying and harassment.
We can provide a package of template documents and correspondence to assist your team in carrying out effective and comprehensive investigation and hearing processes.
