Estate Planning & Tax

Probate administration

Our practice in this area includes:

  • Professional executorship services
  • Ascertaining assets and Inheritance Tax liability
  • Completion of HMRC accounts and obtaining the Grant of Representation
  • Collection and distribution of assets
  • Preparation of estate accounts

We are able to carry out estate administration as professional executors whether or not we have been appointed in the will.

The first task is to ascertain the assets forming the estate and thereby calculate its value and the resulting Inheritance Tax liability.

An HM Revenue & Customs account setting out the deceased’s assets and liabilities must then be completed and submitted.  We can do this on the executors’ behalf.

We can then assist in making the application to the court for a Grant of Representation.

Once the Grant has been obtained we can arrange for assets to be collected and liabilities settled.  We can then draw up the estate accounts.

Following approval of these accounts by the executors we can distribute assets in accordance with the terms of the will.

Our specialists in these areas are Michael Rapps, Clare Hopkins and Andrew Wareham.
