Banking disputes

Our banking disputes practice includes:

  • Failed money transfer claims
  • Mis-selling of financial products
  • Defending bank debt claims

The intended recipients of transferring funds may have the right to pursue those funds where the transfer fails.  In cases where the transfer was made for an identified purpose, a 'Quistclose' trust may arise.  Our experience in this complex area of banking law includes acting in a £22 million depositors’ group action arising from the collapse of the Icelandic bank system.

We deal with claims arising from the mis-selling of financial products where advice was inappropriate or absent, and defending claims brought by banks for shortfalls arising on repossessions of mortgaged homes.

Our specialist in these areas is Richard Gore.  Richard is a member of the Financial Services Lawyers’ Association.
