Family

The department advises on all aspects of family law.  We have the expertise to act in complex financial cases involving substantial assets, family businesses and pensions.  We benefit from the support of the firm’s Corporate & Commercial and Estate Planning & Tax departments.

All our lawyers are members of Resolution and follow the code of practice promoting a constructive and non-confrontational approach.  We find that this reduces the emotional temperature and increases the chance of reaching agreement by negotiation.  Victoria Daniell and Sally Orme are also trained Collaborative Family Lawyers, a relatively new forum for resolving disputes without going to court.

We advise on relationship breakdown including separation, divorce, dissolution of civil partnerships and unmarried couples’ property disputes.  We also advise on the protective measures which can be taken in new and existing relationships such as pre- and post-nuptial agreements, living together agreements and declarations of trust.  We have extensive experience of dealing with matters relating to children including residence and contact.

We appreciate that family resources are valuable and we take a pragmatic approach in order to keep legal costs to a minimum.
