The morning conference was held at Bristol’s hub for small and start-up businesses, The Engine Shed, and brought together delegates from different corners of the business world to engage in a discussion about the matter’s owners of start-up and scale-up businesses should prioritise to succeed.
Kieren Windsor, Head of IHL at Gregg Latchams and event organiser chaired the four-strong panel alongside Robert Buckland, editor of Bristol Business News, Swindon Business News and Bath Business News.
Aimee Shortman, CEO at Brand Biology, opened a discussion around the importance of creating the conditions for people to thrive, emphasising that people and customers must be the focus if leaders want to future-proof their business.
Brand Consultant at Insight 101, Phillipa Haynes, highlighted how brand values must be visible in order to turn into behavioural traits, and that the easiest way to influence action internally is to promote a united mission in your workforce.
Richard Godfrey, CEO at Rocketmakers, a company that develops and deploys apps, websites and software for SMEs, addressed the fact that businesses are focused around people and talked about the importance of leaders needing emotional intelligence and self-awareness to fully support employees.
Strategic Business Consultant at High Growth Knowledge Company, Peter Quintana, talked about the cruciality of outcome mapping, even for one person enterprises, in understanding the landscape a business is navigating through at each stage of growth.
Commenting on the event, Kieren Windsor, said: “This event provided a unique opportunity for attendees to hear from, and ask questions of, a broad range of specialists, all of whom have a shared goal in helping businesses and their leaders, to reach their full potential.
“The conversation doesn’t stop here – I urge those who are looking to expand in, or into, business to get in touch with myself or one of our expert panellists to see how we can support you to build and implement a sustainable growth plan.”
