Ed advises clients across a variety of industry sectors on commercial agreements, projects and transactions as well as data protection matters.
As head of the firm’s Digital Media & Technology sector, Ed specialises in advising digital agencies, online retailers, software houses and fast-growth tech companies on the development, licensing and marketing of new technologies, as well as contractual relationships with customers, users, resellers and suppliers. He has considerable experience advising on technology procurement and outsourcing projects on the customer and supply-side, in particular those that are high-risk in terms of their criticality, value and visibility.
Ed is a real technology and software development enthusiast and aims to combine technical legal knowledge with a deep understanding of technology and the technology sector to provide clear and commercial advice, which many clients comment as being his strength.
Prior to joining Gregg Latchams, Ed worked within NHS Research & Innovation, preparing and negotiating contracts for clinical trials, advising on the regulation of medicines and medical devices and on the commercialisation of intellectual property.
Ed is a member of the Society for Computers and Law (SCL), a trustee of Knowle West Media Centre (KWMC), a charity which uses the arts, media and technology to engage with the community, and a contributing author to Lexis® PSL TMT on data protection and domain names.
